For our honeymoon we had two requirements… a gorgeous ocean and it had to be relaxing where the only thing expected of you was a drink in hand as the waves crashed. As much as adventure is exciting, we are happiest laying on the beach, cocktail in hand with a good book. And after our destination wedding, a house move between getting married and our honeymoon- this was just what the doctor ordered.
We were overwhelmed with destinations whilst searching so we went to a specialist travel agent who could help hone in all of these amazing locations. When Kuoni steered us towards the Philippines, Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, we knew our search was over. It’s is regarded as one of the most private and luxurious hotels in the Philippines and Conde Nast Traveler named Boracay the number one island in the World. So we knew this was worth more than a passing glance.
I genuinely have to say this resort was first class the minute you step off their private speed boat hand delivering you from Caticlan to their oasis. James Bond has nothing on this place… After two days getting from London to Hong Kong, Manila then to Catliclan, we were welcomed with open arms. We were immediately greeted by musicians playing on the dock and a private butler that’s stays with you. As our room wasn’t quite ready, we decided to hit the pool bar to officially celebrate the beginning of our honeymoon and see where we would be spending most of our time… Banyugan Beach and pool.
